Biotechnology is an emerging and interdisciplinary field of life sciences. Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or “any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use. It is a platform for the interface of new techniques of drug development, chemical industry, agriculture and other paramedical branches. SMPGC has emerged as a centre for development of technical and research skills in Biotechnology and allied courses. Programs offered in Biotechnology are UG integrated Biotech and PG Biotech.

Scope :
Genetic Engineering in biotechnology stimulated hopes for both therapeutic proteins, drugs and biological organisms themselves such as seeds, pesticides, engineered yeasts, and modified human cells for treating genetic diseases. It has made advance in two major areas i.e molecular biology and production of industrially important bio-chemical.

Botany, also called plant science(s), plant biology or phytology, is the science of plant life and a branch of biology. Botany as a subject is related to the study of plants and a career in it would mean studying in depth about fungi, algae, plants, diseases, growth, metabolism and structure between different groups. When planning a career in Botany, the job profile can include study of plants, research, working with industries, teaching, self employment, and being a part of many more fields. SMPGC’s Department of Botany was established in 2001 as under graduate level. The department provides good experimental facilities based on university Syllabus. It grows as post graduate department in the year 2005.

Chemistry is a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of matter. Chemistry includes topics such as the properties of individual atoms, how atoms form chemical bonds to create chemical compounds, the interactions of substances through intermolecular forces that give matter its general properties, and the interactions between substances through chemical reactions to form different substances. Department of Chemistry at SMPGC was established during the session 2001-02, since then it has been growing steadily as is apparent from the enrolled strength of students in every succeeding year. It acquired the PG status during the session 2005-06. There are separate chemistry labs for UG & PG; equipped with all necessary instruments like Conductivity Meter, pH Meter, Spectrophotometer, OHP, Colorimeter etc.

The commerce department aims to inculcate a wide range of managerial skills among the students and also build their competence in a particular area so as to enhance their expertise in areas of their interest. The Commerce Department at SMPGC has been successfully running since 1998-99 and has been continuously ranked among the top departments of numerous colleges of Jaipur. Along with regular classes, the department also particularly focuses on the overall development of the student by nurturing and honing their communication, creative, reasoning and developmental skills. The department has produced number of students who are working as professionals (C.A., C.S., ICWA, MBAs) in reputed firms.

As the IT and software industry are fast growing, BCA program aim at the understanding of the basics of computing to enable the students for competition in the current global scenario. The program has both theoretical and applied components. Students are trained in Systems Designing, Application Software Development, Computer Networks, Web Designing and Development, Database Management System, etc. The entire campus is WiFi enabled with a Hi-Speed internet backbone, this along with a fully furnished computer lab consisting of over 100 high-end computers ensures that the students have every IT resource at their disposal. The entire network has access to SConnect, the faculty, student, parent online portal, which allows for vigilance over the student’s progress over the academic curriculum. LCD projectors, cyber screens, smart class rooms all make for a futuristic approach to teaching & learning.

Scope :

The topmost MNC’s that hire BCA that hire BCA graduates are Infosys, TCS, tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL, Technologies, Capgemini etc. Besides being in software developer, computer programmer and one web developer one can excel in graphic design, multimedia and animation, game designing and surveillance.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”. Experimentation is the keyword that describes the painting department. Students of this department are encouraged to chart out their own course apart from keeping abreast with the academic syllabus. Students are encouraged to express themselves through their art under the able guidance of highly experienced faculties. Well equipped studio and classrooms make for a conducive environment where the students can truly let their imaginations run wild and put them on paper more effectively.

The Department of Economic Administration & Financial Management (EAFM) was established in the year 2004. It is one of the most prestigious departments of the college and stands as a centre for studies in Economic Administration, Financial Management and Cooperation. The Department has a strong support system of Computers, Reprographic Machine, Internet, LCD Projector which are accessible both to the teachers and students. The Department also has a well maintained library for post graduate students. Several academic journals of repute and newspapers are being subscribed in the Department.

The Department of Economics is one of the main constituent departments of SMPGC. The department attracts a large number of students owing to its tradition of imparting education and promoting research. Many of its alumni have distinguished themselves in both academic and administrative spheres across the country – a small testimony, perhaps, to the excellence of training that we have managed to give them. The teaching programmes in the Department are focused on proper blending of ‘quality’ and ‘relevance’. This is sought to be achieved by periodic updating the pedagogy in conformity with the advancement of the knowledge in the subject, balancing emphasis on theoretical analysis with that on applied economics, introducing new topics from time to time and making tutorials more effective by establishing close student – teacher contact.

Department of English, established in 1998, started with the very conception of the college. Since then it has been growing on desired lines. It offers Pass Course at Undergraduate level as well as P.G. course at Masters Level. The courses offered – foster scholarly interpretations of individual cultural arts, such as Poetry, Drama and Fiction. Our Post-graduate courses offer specialization papers on American Literature, and Applied Linguistics. The students of both the levels benefit from close supervision of the faculty members.

The department encourages its students to participate in academic, co-curricular activities and students are assigned credits for participating in these activities. The consistent, efforts and guidance of the faculty have ensured that the Visual Arts students win laurels at various national, state and inter-collegiate level events. The Visual Arts Department of SMPGC organizes various exhibitions every year which serve as a platform for the young artists to interact with the world and analyze their creations outside the studio space.

History (from Greek ἱστορία, historia, meaning “inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation”) is the study of the past, particularly how it relates to humans. It is an umbrella term that relates to past events as well as the memory, discovery, collection, organization, presentation, and interpretation of information about these events. Scholars who write about history are called historians.
The Department of History at SMPGC offers courses leading to M.A. It’s teaching programme is designed to provide students with a broad overview of world history narrowing down to focus on the history of India with special emphasis on socio-economic and cultural history.
At the research level the Department’s primary focus is on the socio-economic and cultural history of ancient India. At the same time, an in-depth study of the linkages (socio-cultural and economic) of ancient Indian regions and the outside world are also attempted. There is a two fold aim of all research activities in the Department. a) Widening the database in its studies of local and regional history and b) introducing an inter-disciplinary approach to understand the underlying social and economic realities of the history of the Indian sub-continent.

Mathematics, hailed as the “Queen of Sciences” by Carl Fredrich Gauss, dreaded by many and loved by an equal number, has progressed rapidly since the beginning of recorded history. Mikhail B. Sevryuk noted in January 2006 that “the number of papers and books included in the Mathematical Reviews database since 1940 (the first year of publication of MR) is now more than 1.9 million and about 75 thousand items are added to the database each year”.
The Department of Mathematics at SMPGC was established during the session 1998-99. Since then it has been growing on desired lines as is apparent from the enrolled strength of the students in every succeeding year. The Department acquired the P.G. status during the session 2006-07.

Established in the year 2001, the Department of Physics at SMPGC has evolved into a leading centre in the areas of undergraduate & postgraduate studies in Rajasthan. The department acquired the P.G. status during the session 2009-10. The department participates in various national and international research initiatives and also hosts various conferences, seminars, meetings etc. of research interest regularly. Besides imparting quality education to the department students, the faculty also ensure that the students are up to date with the latest in the areas of technology, particularly related to physics.

Political science is a social science discipline that deals with systems of government, and the analysis of political activity and political behaviour. It deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics which is commonly thought of as determining of the distribution of power and resources. Political scientists “see themselves engaged in revealing the relationships underlying political events and conditions, and from these revelations they attempt to construct general principles about the way the world of politics works.” The pedagogy at the Department of Political Science at SMPGC is based on a comprehensive social science approach that integrates and interrogates sociological, economic, philosophical and cultural dimensions. It encourages a comprehensive study of the field of politics, keeping especially the Indian reality in focus.

The Department of Psychology at SMPGC was started in the session 2004-2005 for the overall development of students via. interactive teaching methods used by qualified faculties in order to improve the student’s psychological skills. Seminars, special lectures by eminent professors are organized regularly by the department. To give good practical knowledge of the subject, the department boasts a well equipped Psychology lab with all necessary psychological tests & apparatuses. Personal attention is given to each student and internal exams are conducted time to time by devoted & committed faculties, to check the students gradual progress so that the students.

The Department of Public Administration at Under Graduate level was established in 1998 and at Post Graduate level in year 2010. For the all round development of students, innovated teaching methods like seminars, group discussions, special lectures by eminent Professors are used. The faculty members work on the philosophy, “If you can dream it, you can do it !!!” The Department is devoted and committed to fill the students with the zeal to achieve their dream of success and encourage them to move with confidence for administrative services. Personal attention is given to each student, which thus ensures their over-all development.

Zoology (/zoʊˈɒlədʒi/, zoh-OL-luh-jee) or animal biology is the branch of biology that relates to the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct, and how they interact with their ecosystems. It is one of the most exciting areas of study involving every imaginable kind of animals (including humans), in habitats as diverse as rain forest and ocean. In SMPGC the Department of Zoology was established in 2001-02 at UG level. It acquired the P.G status during the session 2005-06.

Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Geographers explore both the physical properties of Earth’s surface and the human societies spread across it. They also examine how human culture interacts with the natural environment and the way those locations and places can have an impact on people. Geography seeks to understand where things are found, why they are there, and how they develop and change over time. The department of geography focuses on ensuring that the student have the very best in terms of equipment and expert guidance to exploit the practical knowledge this department has to offer.
